Urbana First Fridays!

n July, First Fridays will have a street fest! Griggs Street will be closed near the Boneyard Creek for the event. Lean about different organizations within the Urbana community starting at 5:30 p.m.,  play with chalk and make giant bubbles with Arcadia - A Lumen Café from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and get your face-or hair-painted at H2O Salon.

SUNA Annual Meeting

The SUNA annual meeting will be held on Thursday, May 31st, from 7-9 pm at St. Matthew Lutheran Church on Philo Road. If you would like to pay your SUNA annual dues (currently $5) before the meeting, mail a check to:

Tree Planting Celebration on Arbor Day

Join community members at a Tree Planting Celebration on Arbor Day,  Friday, April 27th at 2-3pm, in the parkway of 105 Meadow Dr.  Dr. Holly Rosencranz, Warren Lavey, and the Rotary Club of Urbana teamed up to provide $10,200, 85 new trees, to the community through the Urbana Cooperative Tree Planting Program.

Free Bicycle Give Away

The Urbana Police Department will be offering bicycles free of charge to citizens of Champaign-Urbana and surrounding areas. This event will take place on Wednesday, April 25, from 10 am-Noon at 202 S Vine Street, Urbana Illinois (Old Good Year building). The Urbana Police ask that each citizen be limited to one bicycle. The bicycles will be offered as is condition to interestedparties.

9th Annual C-U Folk & Roots Festival, Urbana, IL

The 9th Annual C-U Folk & Roots Festival will be held
November 2-4, 2017. It's a great opportunity to hear a variety of "folk & roots" music -- blues, celtic, old time, bluegrass, folk, and cajun. Thursday evening's event takes place at Krannert. Free Yoga in Meadowbrook Park

Yoga in Meadowbrook Park, Saturdays, 9am, June 13- August 29 (does not meet July 4)
Come outside to experience the joy of yoga! Join the Urbana Park District, your community, and a variety of talented yoga instructors as we take to beautiful Meadowbrook Park for yoga in the open-air.

All ages and abilities are welcome to join us as we gather to celebrate movement and breath under our beautiful prairie skies. Instructors will offer modifications so you can practice at your own level. This is a FREE yoga practice, so invite your friends and family along, bring a yoga mat (although we have loaners if you need one), some comfortable clothing, and the desire to practice yoga in an outdoor setting.

40th Annual Strawberry Jam festival

Join us for this free family event at
Meadowbrook Park, Race Street entrance, on Saturday, June 17 from 4pm to sunset. Overflow parking at Stone Creek Church. Bring a picnic dinner and a blanket or lawn chair for a good old-fashioned fun time. Enjoy musical performances and taste fresh strawberries over ice cream (while supplies last).

4-5pm Wildwood String Band, 5:30-6:30pm Bashful Youngens,
7-8pm Big Bluestem.




Uncork Urbana Wine Festival

The Urbana Business Association's 4th annual Uncork Urbana Wine Festival will happen June 10, 2017in Meadowbrook Park. The festival is sure to be a stunning medley of local wine, live music, food, and fabulous company.

Bike Month Celebration, May 10th, 2017

Live Music
 6-8pm – Michael & Jamie Lou – Bluegrass & American Roots Duo

Children’s bicycle ride (6:15pm) on park walkways
Give-a-way drawings (7:30pm) 2 youth bikes and 3 Prairie Cycle Club annual memberships.
Bicycle and advocacy group information booths 
Free bike checkups (6-8pm) by local bicycle shops
Bike Helmet sales (6-8pm) $10
Optional 22-mile moonlight night bike ride (gather 7:30, depart 7:40) to enjoy both the sunset and moonrise, at your own speed over low traffic country roads. We stop at the Sidney Dairy Barn for ice cream and socializing before returning on moonlit roads.  State law requires lights, and helmets for night riding.

Adopt Urbana clean-up of Colorado Avenue

Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 8:30 am is the date set for the Adopt Urbana clean-up of Colorado Avenue between Philo Rd. and Anderson St. We will meet in the parking lot of the Dollar Store, which is on the north side of Colorado across from County Market. Gloves, safety vests, garbage bags and garbage tongs will be provided. This should take no more than 45 min.
