9th Annual C-U Folk & Roots Festival, Urbana, IL

The 9th Annual C-U Folk & Roots Festival will be held
November 2-4, 2017. It's a great opportunity to hear a variety of "folk & roots" music -- blues, celtic, old time, bluegrass, folk, and cajun. Thursday evening's event takes place at Krannert. The other festival events take place in venues in downtown Urbana.  Check out http://folkandroots.org/ for details.

Free Yoga in Meadowbrook Park

Yoga in Meadowbrook Park, Saturdays, 9am, June 13- August 29 (does not meet July 4)
Come outside to experience the joy of yoga! Join the Urbana Park District, your community, and a variety of talented yoga instructors as we take to beautiful Meadowbrook Park for yoga in the open-air.

All ages and abilities are welcome to join us as we gather to celebrate movement and breath under our beautiful prairie skies. Instructors will offer modifications so you can practice at your own level. This is a FREE yoga practice, so invite your friends and family along, bring a yoga mat (although we have loaners if you need one), some comfortable clothing, and the desire to practice yoga in an outdoor setting.

40th Annual Strawberry Jam festival

Join us for this free family event at
Meadowbrook Park, Race Street entrance, on Saturday, June 17 from 4pm to sunset. Overflow parking at Stone Creek Church. Bring a picnic dinner and a blanket or lawn chair for a good old-fashioned fun time. Enjoy musical performances and taste fresh strawberries over ice cream (while supplies last).

4-5pm Wildwood String Band, 5:30-6:30pm Bashful Youngens,
7-8pm Big Bluestem.

Uncork Urbana Wine Festival

The Urbana Business Association's 4th annual Uncork Urbana Wine Festival will happen June 10, 2017in Meadowbrook Park. The festival is sure to be a stunning medley of local wine, live music, food, and fabulous company.

Bike Month Celebration, May 10th, 2017

Live Music
 6-8pm – Michael & Jamie Lou – Bluegrass & American Roots Duo

Children’s bicycle ride (6:15pm) on park walkways
Give-a-way drawings (7:30pm) 2 youth bikes and 3 Prairie Cycle Club annual memberships.
Bicycle and advocacy group information booths 
Free bike checkups (6-8pm) by local bicycle shops
Bike Helmet sales (6-8pm) $10
Optional 22-mile moonlight night bike ride (gather 7:30, depart 7:40) to enjoy both the sunset and moonrise, at your own speed over low traffic country roads. We stop at the Sidney Dairy Barn for ice cream and socializing before returning on moonlit roads.  State law requires lights, and helmets for night riding.

Adopt Urbana clean-up of Colorado Avenue

Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 8:30 am is the date set for the Adopt Urbana clean-up of Colorado Avenue between Philo Rd. and Anderson St. We will meet in the parking lot of the Dollar Store, which is on the north side of Colorado across from County Market. Gloves, safety vests, garbage bags and garbage tongs will be provided. This should take no more than 45 min.

SUNA Annual Meeting

Wednesday, May 24, 7 p.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
  We will send out a call for questions directed to our city leaders.  Those questions will be categorized and submitted to the appropriate person and our visitors will have prepared answers for our meeting.  There will be an opportunity for you to pose questions after our entire panel speaks.  At this point, we expect all our leadership to attend—Mayor Diane Marlin, Alderman Jared Miller, USD board member Paul Polousky,  Interim UPD chief Sylvia Peck, Public Works director Bill Gray, Community Development director Libby Tyler (insert Oxford comma here) and park district director Tim Bartlett.

Urbana Pedestrian Plan neighborhood meetings

The City of Urbana and Champaign County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC) invite you to attend a neighborhood meeting for the Urbana Pedestrian Plan. Come give your input on walking in Urbana on Tuesday, May 2, from 7 pm to 8:30 pm at Yankee Ridge School Gym, 2102 S. Anderson St.

CSA Fair

Join Urbana's Market at the Square, The Land Connection and Imbibe Urbana at the Third Annual CSA Fair on Friday, March 3rd from 4-7 p.m. at the Urbana Civic Center, 108 E. Water St. At the CSA Fair, customers will have the opportunity to meet local farmers and businesses that offer CSA programs and buying clubs, learn about their farms or businesses and select a share or club that best meets their needs.
