SUNA strongly supports the Urbana Police Department’s efforts to establish Neighborhood Watch groups. Neighborhood Watch Group is an association of neighbors who look out for each other’s families and property, learn how to make their homes more secure, and alert police to any suspicious activities or crime in progress. Link here to information provided by the Urbana Police Department’s on Neighborhood Watch. From that page you can download a booklet with a detailed description of how the program works. If you or someone you know is interested in starting a neighborhood watch in your area, please contact one of the Neighborhood Watch coordinators, Officer Preston James atjamespm@urbanaillinois.us or Lt. Robert Fitzgerald at fitzgerj@urbanaillinois.us. Coordinators can also be reached by calling the Urbana Police Department at (217)384-2320. |
